Cricket Champions League CLT20 Schedule, Teams, Time, Venues Announced; Bangalore to Hold Final

The sixth edition of the Champions League Twenty20 tournament (CLT20) will be held in India from September 13 to  October 4, 2014 in four venues — Mohali, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Raipur, announced the league’s governing council on Friday.

In all 29 matches will play in the tournament, including the qualifying phase. Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will open the first match of the group stage on September 17.

The qualifying stage will be played by 4 teams and the top-two will make it to the group phase. The second round will see 10 teams under two groups and the top two sides from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.

The final is scheduled on October 4 at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore, which was incidentally the venue for the final of IPL 2014.

“The Group stage matches will be played at Mohali, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Raipur. The Qualifier will be played at Raipur. The CLT20 Governing Council has confirmed the teams that will compete for a total prize money of US $ 6 million,” Sanjay Patel of BCCI said in a statement.

  • Q1/Q3 will enter Group A if either of them makes it to the Group Stage.
  • Q2/Q4 will enter Group B if either of them makes it to the Group Stage.
  • If Q1 and Q3 both make it to the Group Stage, then Q1 will enter Group A and Q3 will enter Group B. If Q2 and Q4 both make it to the Group Stage, then Q2 will enter Group B and Q4 will enter Group A.
  • If Mumbai Indians qualify, they will be Q2 in the main league and other team will be Q1
  • If only one IPL team qualifies for semifinal then the team will play the 8 pm game
  • If two IPL teams play in one semifinal then they will play the 8 pm game
  • If three IPL teams reach the semifinals then the semi with two IPL teams will be the 8 pm game.
