Following Wednesday’s rain in several parts of the city, the major Hoody power station of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited was shut down leading to massive power cuts in Bangalore East and North since 6 pm
Hoody station supplies power to Fraser Town, Cooke Town, Banaswadi, Kalyan Nagar, HRBR Layout, Hennur and some parts of Hebbal and surrounding areas.
“The lines tripped due to heavy wind followed by rain. We hope to restore power supply before midnight. But the continuous strong winds are a concern,” said a Bescom officer to TOI.
The downpour on Wednesday night led to four trees uprooted and two-hour traffic snarls reported on major ring road areas. BBMP said tree fall was reported from Cox Town, Commercial Street, Sulthan palya and the Orion Mall area but no casualties.
