After its comfortable win against arch-rival Pakistan in Kolkata, India will take on Bangladesh in their third World T20 match, despite the debacle against New Zealand in Nagpur earlier. Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy Stadium is known to be batting-friendly and the onus is on bowlerrs to show their magic today.
Besides Ashish Nehra, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami will be bowling their balls to hit hit the stumps today. “This is not the first time I’ve bowled 2-3 overs in the first six, and one or two in the last four. That is my job, and I love being one of the two bowling at the death, and up front. We have people like Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami too. So the experience I have from the past 16-17 years, I try to pass on. I’m sure it’s helping them, and I’m enjoying it,” said Nehra in apre-match press conference.
“We’re confident, but everyone knows that in this format, every game is a knockout till you lift the trophy. There’s not much room for error,” he said.
However, India is not taking Bangladesh team lightly either. “Bangladesh have been doing well, and everybody knows it. In this format, you can’t take any team lightly. The way they have progressed in the last two-three years is amazing. We have to play to our potential to beat them,” said Nehra.
Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who faced a three-wicket defeat against Australia on Monday, said, “I’m confident.”
Otherwise, Bangalore’s pitch is meant for the batsmen and some of the higest scores are recorded on this pitch. The weather today ranging at 30 to 35 degree celsius, it may be hot for Bangaloreans but the visiting teams, it is well within the range as elsewhere. Moreover the play time is in the evening.
